Bob Metcalfe
Bob Metcalfe was an MIT engineer, Harvard mathematician, Xerox scientist, Ethernet inventor, Stanford professor, 3Com founder, Cambridge fellow, and InfoWorld pundit before becoming a Polaris partner on 1/1/1. At Polaris, Bob is a venture capitalist backing Boston-area high-tech start-ups including Ember, Mintera, Narad, Paratek, and SiCortex. Al Gore and Bob invented the Internet Bubble, for which Bob is not even a little bit sorry. Bob is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and received the National Medal of Technology from President Bush in 2005.
