The FIRST (For
Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) Robotics
Competition is an exciting, multinational competition that teams professionals
and young people to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive
way. The program is a life-changing, career-molding experience—and a
lot of fun. In 2009, 1700 teams of nearly 43,000 high school students from around the world will compete in events in the US, Canada, and Israel.
In 2006, Boston debuted its FIRST regional event with over 40 high school teams, mostly from Massachusetts, but also from out of state and even Brazil. Over the last four years the Boston Regional has become one of the most popular FIRST Robotics Competition events with attendance at the 2009 finals recorded at more than 6000 -- the most attended FRC regional competition for the second year running!
The 2010 event promises to be even bigger and better!
Unique, high-tech, sophisticated robots (& their student developers) will compete in a highly energized, rock concert atmosphere, surrounded by hundreds of volunteers, amazing people, and gracious corporate sponsors.
Come cheer them on and get involved!
